SagePlan ("SagePlan," "we," "us," or "our") operates the website at sageplan.co (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.

1. Who we are

SagePlan is an independent tool that helps prospective and current Western Governors University ("WGU") students visualize and plan their degree. SagePlan is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or otherwise connected to WGU, Study.com, Sophia Learning, or any other third party referenced on the Service. All course codes and program names are used for identification and planning purposes only. You can reach us at privacy@sageplan.co.

2. Information we collect

Account information you provide — email address, and (if you sign in with Google) your name and Google profile ID.
Optional profile information — your first name, WGU student ID (optional), chosen start month, and selected degree programs.
Course progress data — which courses you mark as taken, term assignments, and any Study.com or Sophia source notes you add.
Optional contact details — mobile phone number, if you provide it for SMS messages.
Usage and device data — IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, clicks, time on page, referring URL, and similar analytics data collected automatically via Google Analytics / Firebase Analytics and server logs.
Cookies and similar technologies — we use cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in and to measure usage.

3. How we use your information

You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, and irrevocable license to use, host, store, reproduce, analyze, modify, create derivative works from, communicate, publish, and distribute the information you provide or that is collected through the Service for the purposes below. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we may use this information to:

Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Service;
Personalize your experience and recommend content, courses, and tools;
Communicate with you about your account and the Service (transactional messages, which you cannot opt out of while you have an account);
Send you marketing communications about SagePlan and related products, services, promotions, partners, and events, where you have opted in;
Analyze usage patterns and conduct research, including creating aggregated and de-identified datasets that do not identify you personally, which we may retain, use, sell, or share indefinitely for any lawful purpose;
Develop new products, features, benchmarks, and insights (including selling aggregated or de-identified reports to third parties);
Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents;
Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

4. Who we share information with

Service providers — cloud hosting (Google Firebase), analytics (Google Analytics), email delivery, SMS delivery, payment processors, and similar vendors acting on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred to the successor entity.
Legal and safety — when required by law, subpoena, court order, or to protect rights, property, safety, or the integrity of the Service.
With your consent — in any other case where you have directed us to share the information.
Aggregated / de-identified data — we may share, license, or sell this type of data freely, as it does not identify you.

We do not sell information that directly identifies you to third parties for their independent advertising purposes.

5. Email and SMS marketing

If you opt in, we may send you marketing emails and/or SMS text messages about SagePlan and other products or services we think you may be interested in. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply for SMS. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in any marketing email, and stop SMS by replying STOP to any message. Transactional messages (account, billing, security) are not marketing and will continue as long as you have an account.

6. Your choices and rights

Access, correction, deletion, portability — email privacy@sageplan.co and we will respond within a reasonable time as required by applicable law.
Marketing opt-out — as described in Section 5.
Cookies — you can block cookies in your browser, but parts of the Service may not work.
California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah and other US state rights — residents may have specific rights including the right to know, delete, correct, and limit the use of sensitive personal information, and the right to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" as those terms are defined under local law. We do not sell data that identifies you. To exercise these rights, email privacy@sageplan.co.
EEA / UK residents — legal bases include consent, contract performance, and our legitimate interests. You may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and portability. You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

7. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Aggregated or de-identified data may be retained indefinitely.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards (including encryption in transit and access controls on Firebase) to protect your information. No system is 100% secure. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential.

9. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or 16 in the EEA/UK) and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. International transfers

We process information in the United States. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States and other countries that may not provide the same level of data protection as your country of residence.

11. Third-party links

The Service may link to third-party sites (e.g., WGU, Study.com, Sophia). We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Review their privacy policies before using them.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date and, where required by law, additional notice. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
